Zipa Zoro (Kouassi Konan Urbain) was born on January 16, 1991 in Abidjan, in the town of Bingerville, from a family of carpenters.
His passion for art began when he was only a child. After the separation of his parents, life became very hard for him and the street turned into his second home, hosting and shaping him. After completing the 4th year of high school he decided to embark on an artistic career by passing the INSAC competition. However, he received a negative result and discouraged he returned to high school to finish his accounting studies.
He then started to develop his own fashion style, styling his clothes with tags and graffiti design supported by his team, especially when organizing parades. Following his high school diploma in accounting he decided to do the CTAA competition, successfully obtaining the training. In 2013, he finally embarked into an artistic career starting tagging and doing graffiti (ZIPA) in the streets of Abidjan.
From 2014 to 2016, he did two apprenticeships with Mr. Alain Zirignond and Mr. Djiré Mahé, two painters coming from the Ivory Coast.
In 2015, he performed graffiti on the wall of a modern college in Bingerville together with the painters Aboudia and Yeanzi. This whole experience allowed him to keep developing his own style, based on the use of ecological materials.
He works with sands and recycled ecological materials such as cardboard, newspapers, papers, and natural pigments, as well as bags of cocoa or cretonne.
In 2015, he launched his successful line of clothes and accessories using recycled burlap to create backpacks, shoes, hats among other accessories. His love for African food, rap and tropical music inspires his art.
